Get to Know Dr. Billy Forrester

Dr. Forrester literally grew up around dentistry thanks to his grandfather, Dr. John Burry, and he is beyond thrilled to have followed in his footsteps. He likes being a part of our office and team because everyone takes their work very seriously while also keeping a light and fun atmosphere that leads to smiles all around. You can learn a little more about Dr. Forrester ahead of your first appointment below.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Forrester believes he was just eight years old when he started following his grandfather around his dental office. He was drawn to the idea of helping people in the community, whether it involved restoring their smiles or just being there to get them out of pain. Those days he spent with his grandfather offered time for them to be together, but he could also see his career path was being set.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Forrester has experience in virtually every position you’ll find in a dental office. He started by helping his grandfather when he came in on Saturdays to see emergency patients, and as the years went by, he worked as a dental assistant before moving to the front desk. While he attended the College of Charleston, he made dentures and partials in a dental lab.

After graduating from dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina, he went on to complete courses in various fields, including traditional dental procedures (crowns and fillings), root canal treatment, and dental implants. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Originally from Fountain Inn, Dr. Forrester has been married to his wife, Melissa, since 2008. Together, they have a son named John, a daughter named Evelyn, as well as two dogs and two cats. His hobbies outside of the dental office include being with family and friends, playing guitar, learning piano, and watching all types of sports. Fun Fact: He was actually the Michelin Man at a Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks basketball game once while in high school.
